Dark Nights, Dark Deeds… Death in Grantown at The Wee Crime Festival 1st-3rd November 2019 @BookmarkMarjory @grantownpagoda #WeeCrimeFest #DarkNightsDarkDeeds

Just as you begin to think to yourself that the nights are fair drawin’ in, and you begin to notice that the autumn leaves are looking especially resplendent, you realise that it must be time to look forward to one of the most beautiful autumn journeys there is, up the A9 to Grantown on Spey for The Wee Crime Festival.

Highland autumnal scene

Grantown is a splendid little Highland town in the centre of the Scottish Highlands on the northern edge of the Cairngorms National Park.

The town’s Square and High Street are lined with unique, independent and interesting shops and businesses selling everything from children’s clothes to whisky, fishing line to pottery.

Now in its 7th year, The Wee Crime Festival is run and organised by the indomitable Mrs Marjory Marshall owner of the Bookmark Bookshop in that town.

Friendly, fun and completely accessible, The Wee Crime Festival is a highlight of my crime reading year and I always look forward to finding an author I hadn’t known before.

So what’s in store this year? A panoply of delights from a range of Scottish authors, including Denzil Meyrick, Michael J Malone, Theresa Talbot, Lesley Kelly and Margaret Kirk to name just a few. Mind you, putting at least 4 of these authors together is a recipe for a certain kind of mayhem! 😂

All taking place in the rather splendid Pagoda building where we will Crime and Dine, are promised that we may ‘die laughing’ and have a ‘killer cocktail’ to look forward to.

It’s all very hard to resist, so I’m just not going to try!

Passionate book reader. Love all kind of books from 19th century novels to crime thrillers. My blog is predominantly crime, psychological thrillers and police procedurals with a good helping of literary fiction thrown in.
