Single-mother Florida bounty hunter Lori Anderson’s got an ocean of trouble on her hands. Her daughter Dakota is safe, but her cancer is threatening a comeback, and Lori needs JT – Dakota’s daddy and the man who taught Lori everything – alive and kicking. Problem is, he’s behind bars, and heading for death row. Desperate to save him, Lori does a deal, taking on off-the-books job from shady FBI agent Alex Monroe. Bring back on-the-run felon, Gibson ‘The Fish’ Fletcher, and JT walks free. Following Fletcher from Florida to California, Lori teams up with local bounty hunter Dez McGregor and his team. But Dez works very differently to Lori, and the tension between them threatens to put the whole job in danger. With Monroe pressuring Lori for results, the clock ticking on JT’s life, and nothing about the Fletcher case adding up, Lori’s hitting walls at every turn. But this is one job she’s got to get right, or she’ll lose everything… Breathlessly paced, and bursting with high-voltage action and edge-of-your-seat jeopardy, Deep Blue Trouble is the unmissable next instalment featuring one of the most memorable and fearless female characters in crime fiction.

Happy publication day to Steph Broadribb and what a thrill it is to be on the blogtour for this fantastic book.

I love this series so much, and yet we’re only into the second book. Lori Anderson is a true joy of a protagonist; suffused with courage, hard enough to stand her ground against any man, yet a loving mother and as sexy as hell.

Broadribb’s bodacious heroine is a gutsy, kick-ass bounty hunter and in Deep Blue Trouble she’s doing what she does best, following the trail of an escaped convict who killed three prison guards on his  way out of prison.

She’s agreed to do it because she needs to get her mentor and lover, J.T.  out of jail; a jail he’s silently languishing in to protect Lori and her daughter from harm. But of course not even J.T. is safe from harm whilst locked up and Lori knows he’s a sitting duck for the mob while he is incarcerated.

Lori is such an authentic and convincing character that the first person narrative really  works in this book and I enjoyed the addition of a trusted companion, Red, as her sounding board. This is a set of characters to die for and a plot that has you on the edge of your seat.  It’s hard to know who to trust in this fast moving and twisting narrative but Lori’s instincts are as sure and sharp as the knife that’s about to slip into J.T.’s guts, and when it does, she will have to use every tool at her disposal to make sure she gets her man.

This time there’s a chance her escapee has gone to ground in Mexico; a place where the cartels are never knowingly welcoming especially to bounty hunters. Working with another bounty hunter isn’t something she wants to do, but her FBI contact Monroe insists on it for cross border work and she is in no position to refuse.

Thrilling, nail-bitingly good and with a panache that is just joyful, Lori Anderson is a heroine for today and Deep Blue Trouble is a book that belogs on everyone’s ‘must have’ shelf.
